Outstanding schools downgrounded

June 2019

England's Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills re-inspected 305 schools rated outstanding, after concerns were raised about falling standards.

Last year, Ofsted highlighted the issue, saying that as some schools had not been inspected for a decade or more, there was a chance their ratings no longer truly reflected standards at the school.  Following this, from the 305 schools inspected only 49 retained their outstanding grade.  166 were judged to be good, 76 were found to require improvement and 14 were rated inadequate.

Ofsted chief inspector Amanda Spielman defended Ofsted position saying: "We believe most schools judged outstanding are still doing outstanding work.

Mr. Putin is serving his fourth term as president. As leader, he has worked to make sure that he has tight control over newspapers, TV, radio, and other sources of information inside of Russia. The internet is a system that doesn’t stop at the edge of the country, but such changes could make this very different.
